How to Understand a Long-Distance Quote

Coach Bus New Jersey has discussed the various components of a local use quote so that you could easily understand or read a quote you get from a charter bus company in New Jersey.
Long-distance travel, or sometimes called out-of-state or over-the-road travel might prove to be more complicated.
Nevertheless, here are the most important parts of a long distance quote:
1. Mileage. When traveling out of state and overnight, the charges are computed based on the miles traveled. Expect to pay somewhere around an average of $3.00 per mile or higher because of increases due to fuel prices and inflation.
Day rates may be charged, however. This is the minimum fee per day if the per mile charge is lower than the combined daily rates. Expect to pay more than $800 per day as day rates.
2. Fuel surcharge. Fuel surcharges help charter bus companies in New Jersey to keep a standard primary rate no matter if the fuel prices are high or low. The fuel surcharge is updated on a day-to-day basis and would cover for the changes in fuel prices.
For example, a charter bus company in New Jersey could have a primary rate of $1,000 for a day tour around the state, but the fuel surcharges would differ from day to day to cover for the fluctuation in fuel prices.
3. Operator change. The law requires that charter bus companies give their drivers 10 hours of rest for every 10 hours of driving or 15 hours of standby. The rates for driver changes range from as low as $200 upwards, depending on the proximity from your departure point to where the change is made.
4. Local travel. Once you get to the destination, local travel covers the free miles that you are allowed to travel.
5. Operator hotel. Customers are responsible for paying for the driver's lodgings and accommodations. Be sure that you clear things out with your hotel to see if you could get the driver's hotel room for free, especially if you are booking a lot of rooms in the hotel.
6. Other expenses. When you travel, expect to pay for parking, tolls, taxes and other fees associated with your trips. The customer would be the one to shoulder these as well.
Some companies, however, put this in their initial quote to you. Others would leave it out and would only require you to pay as you incur these expenses.
