If your group loves museums and would want to explore the past and present cultural and natural diversity of New Jersey, then The New Jersey State Museum should not be missed. The State Museum has a vast collection of prehistoric and historic specimens; fine art including paintings, prints, drawings, sculpture and photographs; and artifacts that document the state’s social, cultural, military, economic, and political history. The State Museum also has a planetarium that can accommodate 150 people.

The State Museum is open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 9:00 a.m.- 4:45 p.m., and on Sundays from noon to 5:00 p.m.

Visit one of the country’s largest universities, Princeton University, and be sure to check out the art museum located at the heart of its campus. The Princeton University Art Museum Art boasts an extensive collection of ancient to contemporary art from all over the world, including art pieces from the Mediterranean region, from Western Europe, from Asia, and from the Americas.

Visitors can visit the museum for free. It is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.; and Sundays from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.

If there’s a museum you shouldn’t miss while touring New Jersey, it is the state’s largest one: the Newark Museum. The Newark Museum has a total of 80 galleries showcasing collections of American, African, Asian, Classical, Contemporary, and Decorative art, among many others. It also has natural science galleries housing 83,000 botanical, zoological, and geological specimen. You can also stroll through Newark Museum’s beautiful sculpture garden, experience astronomy and space travel at the planetarium, or visit the museum shops for souvenirs of your visit.

The Newark Museum is open to visitors Wednesday through Sunday, from 12 noon to 5:00 p.m.
